We get asked this question every week “ what equipment is needed to to start a CrossFit gym?”. CrossFit is described as a “minimalist program”.Check out this list of the essential gear you will need to open and run a CrossFit gym
Olympic barbell – this is the foundation of the CrossFit workout as you will be able to build strength and learn barbell movements.
Bumper plates – add bumper plates to your barbell and now were talking strength
Pull-up bars – no CrossFit garage gym is complete without a pull up bar. The bars are great for of course – doing pull ups – but you can do toe to bars and hang rings for other workouts.
Dips bars – easy to set up and workout to build upper body strength. You can add a stretch band across the bars if your just starting out.
Gymnastics rings and parallettes – If you want to build upper body strength and body balance – you will need to step up to the rings
Plyometrics boxes – also called jump boxes. This is where you build speed and power in your legs — and get the full cardio sweat. Easy to build and put them in your gym.
medicine ball – is a great piece of equipment for warming up and a full body workout with wall ball throws
Dumbbells – versatile as you can use them for warm ups, kettle bell swings and farmers walks.
Kettlebells– the kettle bell offers a full body workout in a small package
Climbing rope – every CrossFit gym needs a climbing rope as it is low cost and takes up little room. A full body workout just waiting to happen.
Rower Machine– expensive (compared to other items) but a must have for cardio workouts
Glute-ham developer – another expensive piece of equipment but no CrossFit gym is complete without one GHD machine
Extra CrossFit Gear Stuff:
It will be good to get a few sets of jump ropes. Yoga Mats are great for doing sit-ups and mobility work. A good foam roller is key to keeping your body rehabbed and tuned up.
